Aha, was die KI so alles weiß:
>>Oli Rubow is a German drummer known for his innovative and creative use of electronic drums in live performances. He has worked with a wide range of artists and bands, including Turntablerocker, De Phazz, and Hellmut Hattler. Rubow is also an author and educator, having written a book on incorporating electronic beats into live drumming performances. He has a strong following on social media and is regarded as one of Germany’s most prominent electronic drummers<<
Und da gerade im Englischen, hier noch eine schöne Rahmen-Besprechung von Martin Frink (06.04.23):
>>About „Den Rahmen erweitern“, the new book written by author, musician and drummer @olirubow
First of all: It definetely is a great book (not only for drummers)!
Oli Rubow (OR) very clearly represents his idea of being truly open-minded and willing to experiment. This point really is very impressive because many musicians (including myself) know that this is not that easy and we often stick to the opinions, habits and ways of thinking we already have. Opening myself to something new and unknown always means to take the „risk“ to change to a new personality (which always is a little scary somehow). But OR with his positivity motivates the reader to let this happen.
Of course, some chapters are talking about one of OR’s main topics (all kinds of „electronical“ way of making music and drumming) but also about different genres, history, instruments, equipment, learning, silence, philosophy and many more.
Oli Rubows rulebreaking thinking and his ability to change the direction of thinking into a contrary way lets me think about another book that i did read some years ago, „Making Music“ by @dennisdesantis which i also can recommend to all musicians.
Being structured in short chapters in alphabetical order which are titled by OR‘s tags and terms makes this book very comfortable and entertaining to read.
Many chapters have some additional links which you can find either in OR‘s blog on http://www.e-beats.net or in a spotify playlist, which includes a huge amount of tracks.
Aside from that, the small button „up to you“ in some of the chapters gives some short and clear advices for listening, thinking or simply practising. Everybody should try.
OR‘s writing is sometimes detailed, sometimes short and simple, sometimes fun, sometimes philosophy – but always inspiring.
„Den Rahmen erweitern“ is published by LEU-Verlag (www.leu-verlag.de) in 2023.<<
Übrigens, was die KI völlig übersehen hat: OR liebt den kalten Nachtisch.
Gott sei dank hat die Eisdiele beim Proberaum wieder geöffnet!
